UNCRC Scotland Bill -Supreme Court Challenge Statement

Posted on

We are, like most other organisations, not able to comment on the specifics of the live legal challenge to the UNCRC Scotland Bill in the UK Supreme Court. But our understanding is that the focus of the Supreme Court will not be on the founding principles or merits of UNCRC incorporation, but is instead on technical questions about the powers of the Scottish Parliament.

We hope to see this being resolved as quickly as possible to ensure so children and young people can focus on the huge benefits that UNCRC incorporation will bring. It should not be lost in this how monumental an achievement this is for the children and young people who have campaigned for years to make this happen, and who hope to see the benefits of incorporation as soon as possible.
