International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People

Today, 29th November, marks the UN’s International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. In line with our policy voted on by young people, SYP stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people. SYP supports the foundational principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and, alongside other human rights defenders, believes action must be taken to prevent further abuse of children and young people’s rights.

We also remain concerned about the rise in religiously motivated discrimination and violence in Scotland and believe action should be taken to address this, as supported by SYP policy.

The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child monitors the implementation of the UNCRC across the world. You can read their most recent statement on the situation here.
