MSYP for Edinburgh South

Hi, I’m Lola Belle, and I am proud to be an MSYP for Edinburgh South. Although Edinburgh has always been my home, I enjoy travelling across Scotland and discovering new places.

I enjoy music, and in my free time I play violin in orchestras, my school ceilidh band, and sing in NYCOS (National Youth Choir of Scotland). I love going to concerts and the theatre – my favourite musical is Hamilton! I also enjoy hockey and volunteer as a young leader at my local guide unit.

I became an MSYP because I love creating positive change, whether it be in my school, local area or, with the help of SYP, nationwide. I am a member of my school’s pupil council and am currently involved in setting up my local EYA (Edinburgh Youth Action).

As an MSYP I can represent the views of young people in my area and ensure all voices are heard and taken seriously. I am part of the Equalities Committee because I am passionate about speaking out against injustice and want to use my position to ensure that young people’s unique experiences influence decision-making.

Three issues I am most passionate about are: Equalities (especially women’s rights), ending gender-based violence and youth health.
