Róisín is SYP’s Policy and Public Affairs Officer. She supports young people to influence policy, engage with politicians, and drive forward the changes they want to see in society.
Róisín is Irish and has a BA Degree in Politics, Sociology and Social Justice, along with a Certificate in Liberal Arts and a Professional Diploma in Leadership and Management.
After working in retail and banking for a few years, she then worked in the Department of the Taoiseach (the Irish Prime Minister) for 4 years. She first worked on a team that oversaw reforms in An Garda Síochána (the Irish Police Force) and was then promoted and moved to the department’s Child Poverty and Well-being Programme Office. During this time, she helped to establish and support the Programme Office’s first Youth Advisory Group, sparking her passion for youth participation and strengthening young people’s connections with decision-makers.
Róisín is currently on the Executive Committee for Women in Public Affairs Scotland. She enjoys travelling, going to pop concerts and table quizzes. She is also a devoted pop culture enthusiast and has appeared on BBC to talk about girlbands!
