Biography

he/him

I was born in Dundee and brought up in neighbouring Angus and have been an MSYP for Angus South since 2021.

As an MSYP, I have campaigned on issues ranging from local bus services to climate change and I recently collaborated with another MSYP to compile a report detailing young people’s views on single-use disposable vapes. Our ‘Single Use: Many Voices’ report was referenced in the Scottish Parliament and cited by the Scottish Government as evidence for the single-use vapes ban.

Outside of SYP, I am studying International Relations and Politics at the University of Dundee where I am also the Independent Student Member of Court. I have always had a keen interest in politics and current affairs for as long as I can remember. Growing up through the independence referendum, Brexit and then the Covid Pandemic, like many of us, I feel like I have lived through an inherently political time in history.

Throughout these events, I felt increasingly frustrated with the state of our politics and particularly how little young people’s voices seemed to be valued. I decided to stand for SYP because I came to the conclusion that I can’t be frustrated and do nothing about it, and I have never looked back.

Three important issues I’m passionate about: Children’s rights and the UNCRC, climate change and education reform.

Fun fact: I am an only child!
