Shannon is a Participation and Programmes Officer at the Scottish Youth Parliament. This involves leading on Phase 3 of the Mind Yer Time project.

Shannon is also working on SYP’s inclusion programme, with a focus on increasing accessibility for young people with disabilities and other seldom heard groups of young people as well as supporting SYP’s programme of events.

Shannon graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA (Hons) in Politics. The choice to study politics was inspired by four years of being an MSYP herself. Shannon has also acted as a Support Worker for MSYPs at a local authority level for over 5 years.

Away from her work, she loves to travel and explore new cultures and places, especially through their cuisine and music. Food and music are two of her favourite things and combining them with exploring a new place is Shannon’s idea of a perfect weekend. Shannon also has a little Westie dog named Nala, who she loves taking nice walks to explore.
