The 2026 – 2031 Manifesto: Dear Scotland’s Future has been written by young people, for young people. It captures the issues that matter most to Scotland’s young people and turns them into clear policies that decision-makers can act on. Every word reflects the voices, experiences, and ambitions of young people themselves, making it not just a document but a powerful tool for change.

What’s Next?
Over the next five years, Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) will use this manifesto to campaign on the issues that matter most to young people, working with decision-makers at every level to turn these policies into action.
From community projects to national campaigns, SYP will continue to make sure young people’s voices are heard where it counts. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but together we can make a real difference.

Are You a Decision-Maker?
At SYP, we understand the importance of ensuring that young people feel genuinely heard and included in the decisions that affect them. That’s why we offer The Right Way training, a programme designed to help organisations, practitioners, and professionals understand how to engage with young people meaningfully and effectively.
Whether you’re in education, youth work, community services, or policymaking, our training can support you to put youth voice at the heart of your work. Together, we can make sure our 2026-2031 Manifesto is implemented effectively!

How Did We Write Our Manifesto?
The process started with a nationwide consultation, where we asked almost 5,000 people aged 12-25 what issues mattered most to them. Through surveys, we gathered the views on the changes they want to see in Scotland. The result is a manifesto that is more than just a list of ideas. It is the collective voice of Scotland’s young people – a document built from lived experiences, democratic discussion, and youth-led decision-making.
