The Scottish Youth Parliament is working in partnership with The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) on a new project to provide a series of monthly Advisory Group meetings and in-person Learner Panels in locations across Scotland.

MSYP will work with SYP and SQA to plan and support Learner Panels and feed into SQA learner communications. The Advisory Group meeting are youth-led where MSYPs are given an opportunity to be a Chair and Co-Chair and work with SYP to lead and facilitate meetings.

For this new project, Learner panels will now take place in person in various schools and colleges across Scotland every 3 or 4 months. The SQA and the Advisory Group will help to recruit around 20-30 young people to gather a wider range of views and opinions. The panels are an opportunity for young people to feedback directly to the SQA and have their voices heard in decisions which affect them directly. The SQA provide the learners with transparency while taking comments on board and setting actions.

To ensure impact and relevancy, topics will be decided with the SQA calendar and may include appeals, design of your exam’s booklet, learner communications, school transitions, assessment, attainment, and equality.
