In September 2019, 35 MSYPs took part in a Discussion Day with Transport Scotland.
Representing the voices of their young constituents, MSYPs had their say on the draft National Transport Strategy (NTS).
In the lead up to the event, SYP adapted the language of the NTS public consultation to increase its accessibility for young people, and organised fun, transport-themed activities to keep MSYPs engaged throughout the Discussion Day.
On the actual day, MSYPs were divided into small groups with a facilitator. MSYPs led several discussions about the draft NTS, identifying its strengths, areas for improvement, and how it will impact the lives of Scotland’s young people.
