Andrew studied Politics and Sociology at the University of Stirling, before serving as the Student Union President for a year. He went on to study a Masters degree in Russian, Eurasian and East European studies at the University of Glasgow and more recently studied a PGDE at the University of Strathclyde.

Andrew is a Participation and Programmes Officer at SYP. He joined the SYP in August 2025, having previously worked as a Modern Studies teacher in Fife and an English language teacher in China for several years. Andrew supports a range of participation, project and inclusion work, notably leading on the Amplifying Child Safety Online project in collaboration with the NSPCC.

Outside of work Andrew is a keen long-distance runner, he regularly takes part in half and full marathons and completed his first ultra in 2025. Andrew also enjoys travelling, movies, music, good coffee and politics. Andrew is passionate about making Scotland and the world a better place.
