Debbie is SYP’s Participation and Programmes Manager and leads on SYP National Sittings as well as our National Voluntary Organisation and Support Worker commitments. She also oversees the work of our team of Participation and Project Officers.

Before joining SYP Debbie worked for a local Development Trust and ran a community hub. Prior to this she had over 10 years’ experience in educational and youth work settings.  She is particularly passionate about working for young people that experience inequality and has worked specifically with young parents, young offenders, young carers and those excluded from mainstream education.

Debbie was the first in her family to attend university and gained an MA in Philosophy and Politics from the University of Edinburgh, as a mature student.

In her spare time Debbie volunteers for the core team at her local Parkrun and in her local community food pantry.  She also enjoys travel (especially if its to a Disney Park!).
