Emily is SYP’s Head of Policy and Public Affairs and she leads the team working on SYP’s policy, public affairs, campaigns and communications work.
As part of her role, she supports MSYPs to have their voices heard by local, national, and international decision makers.
Before joining SYP, Emily worked for a national youth work organisation co-ordinating work on violence prevention and children’s rights. Previously Emily was also an elected representative for national and local student politics.
She recently completed a postgraduate qualification in children’s rights and participation at Queen’s University Belfast.
Outside of work and away from helping young people realise their rights, Emily loves spending time outdoors with her young family, and growing fruit and vegetables in her garden. She’s also right at home with our work, as she also voluntarily runs a Brownie unit with Girlguiding Scotland for girls aged 7-10.
