She/Her
Róisín is SYP’s Policy and Public Affairs Officer. She supports young people to influence policy, engage with politicians, and drive forward the changes they want to see in society.
Róisín is very proud to be Irish and has a BA degree in Politics, Sociology and Social Justice along with a Certificate in Liberal Arts and a Professional Diploma in Leadership and Management.
Róisín has previously worked in retail and banking. In 2021, she became a Clerical Officer in the Social Policy and Public Service Reform Division in the Department of the Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister). In this role, she worked in the Policing Reform Implementation Programme Office which oversaw major reforms of An Garda Síochána (the Irish Police Force) and also worked on a wide range of issues relating to social policy. Róisín joined the new Child Poverty and Well-being Programme Office when it was set up by the Taoiseach in 2023 and was promoted to Executive Officer shortly after joining. A major piece of work Róisín had in this role was helping with the set up and running of the Programme Office’s first Youth Advisory Group. Working with the Youth Advisory Group helped her to gain a passion for youth participation and made her aware of the importance of connecting young people to political figures and senior civil servants. Róisín has also delivered youth friendly presentations and workshops to the Youth Advisory Group, to secondary school students from disadvantaged areas in Dublin and to UNICEF.
Róisín enjoys travelling, socialising with friends both in Scotland and Ireland and going to pop concerts – her favourite concert out of the long list she has been to is obviously Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour! She also runs an Instagram account which displays her best concert photography and is a devoted pop culture enthusiast.
