We’re delighted to announce that our next manifesto will be launched on Saturday, 6 September, setting the agenda for the changes we want to achieve across Scotland.
Since its foundation in 1999, the Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) has empowered countless young people to campaign for the issues that matter the most to them by influencing decision-makers at both local and national levels. These issues have been captured in the manifestos!
Our manifesto serves as a clear roadmap to achieve all the changes we demand over the next five years, with the next edition to be launched at the upcoming Sitting, where Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) will gather to discuss SYP’s next steps.
Ellie Craig, Chair of SYP, said: “MSYPs have worked tirelessly this year to make sure the new manifesto reflects the voices of young people across Scotland. We’ve also worked to ensure it’s accessible not just to young people, but to the wider public and decision-makers who shape the country’s politics and policies.
“We’re incredibly proud that previous manifestos have already led to real change, like the Under-22s Free Bus Travel Scheme and Incorporation of UNCRC. This shows just how powerful and effective our work can be.
“The launch of this new manifesto is only the beginning. Over the next five years, we’ll continue to work with decision-makers to ensure these policies are turned into reality.”
The 2026–2031 manifesto is structured around five key themes: Accessible, Equitable and Inclusive Education; Safe and Supportive Communities; A Sustainable and Renewable Society; A Fairer and Just Scotland; and Empowering Young People to Claim Their Rights. You can find out more here.
