SYP’s New Team Ready to Lead!

Posted on

Last weekend, young people leading the way at the Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) – our newly elected Board Members, Conveners, and Deputy Conveners – came together to hone their leadership skills and prepare to represent their peers at local and national levels.

The Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) who now serve on SYP’s Board were announced at the Annual General Meeting on 16 September 2025, following several days of voting. Conveners and Deputy Conveners were elected by their Committee Members at SYP’s 83rd National Sitting in Paisley, Glasgow.

As part of the induction process, they undertook extensive training at SYP’s office in Edinburgh, where they had the chance to further enhance their public speaking skills in preparation for future media opportunities and meetings with decision-makers.

Ellie Craig, MSYP for Glasgow Cathcart and SYP’s Chair, commented:

It was an absolute pleasure to have spent the day with my fellow MSYPs who have recently taken on Board, Convener, and Deputy Convener roles. As I look forward to my second term as SYP’s Chair, I am confident that this new team of talented young people will continue to honour the hard work and dedication shown by their predecessors.

This new term coincides with the launch of our new strategy and the 2026–2031 Manifesto: Dear Scotland’s Future, so we’re all really excited to promote the new policies and values as the country moves closer to the next parliamentary election.

SYP’s Board and Committee Representatives also reviewed Motions submitted by MSYPs ahead of the upcoming Policy Convention, which will take place online next month. Further details will be shared on our website closer to the time.
